I have a female Vieled Chameleon, she is three years old and lately she hasn't been eating. I had to hydrate her via a small bath with pedialite since she was not drinking water. I put a cricket in her cage and it seemed she wanted to eat it but when she opened her mouth she could not shoot her tongue, it seemed more like she wanted to throw up. I don't know what to do please help.

Fill out the template for how to ask for help in the health clinic section of the forums.

This will give everyone viewing your post specific information about your husbandry techniques.

It will help others troubleshoot your issue.

Has she ever laid eggs?

What are you using for calcium supplementation?

What lighting do you use?

Whats the replacement schedule for your lamps?

Mouth looks nice and clean. Trachea is clear. Can't see anything obviously wrong inside the mouth.

Yes she has laid eggs, she laid them around 3 months ago they were not fertile I don't plan to breed her. The lighting I am using is exo Terra 5.0 tropical uvb along with a heat lamp. I am getting a new bulb friday. The supplements I giver her are Rep-Cal Calcium with Vit. D3 phosphorus free and also Herptivite.

Nobody is going to be able to help much unless you fill out the how to ask for help form completely, and in detail. Otherwise, only advice we can give is take her to an exotic animal vet near you.

Usually, not using the tongue is a side effect of a vitamin A defficiency. If it has been slowly coming on for a while this is likely the case; however, with the yellow muchus I would say an infection is likely to be keeping her from using her tongue. Without a detailed form there's not much advice we can give.

ChamMan7...do you have any articles about vitamin A and tongue issues? I'd be interested in reading them.

Tongue issues can be caused by infection, dehydration, imbalances in nutrients, etc. so without more information its hard to be sure.

Lachameleon..you said you give her "Rep-Cal Calcium with Vit. D3 phosphorus free and also Herptivite" but you didn't say how often for each...and its recommended that you dust with a phos.-free calcium powder at most feedings and only twice a month with the two you have listed. Too much D3 from supplements can lead to imbalances and health issues.

Well thank you for replying.
My chameleon is a Veiled Chameleon, its a girl and she is three years old. I got her when she was about 6 months old from a breeder at repticon.

I handle her mabey about 2 a month mainly just to move her to clean her entire cage, she doesnt like me handling her so I try to keep it to as little as possible.

I feed her crickets and large superworms gutloaded with fresh lettuce and potatoes. I feed her every other day.

Supplements are rep-cal herptivite give her that about once a week. The other is Rep-cal Calcium with Vitamin D give her that about 3 times a week.

Watering is every day about 3 times a day for about 30 seconds or until the cage is really wet I just use a regular spray bottle with repti safe.

Fecal description is brown with white urates and some yellow verry little yellow.

History-All I know is that she was 6 months when I got her.

Cage type- It is a all screen cage. Width is 16in Length is 17 inches and height is 29in

Lighting Exo terra 5.0 Uvb tropical and a heating bulb temp for basking spot is around 80-85 Degrees and at night the cage temp drops down to 65 degrees. I gave her on a 12 hour light schedule turn off her lights around 10 pm and turn them on around 10 am.

Humidity is around 65

No live plants

Placement in a corner of my room low traffic and not next to any vents or fans
