Chameleon Biting/Pulling My Hair?!?

Hello!
I have had my Male Veiled Chameleon (Reptar) for 3 months. He was a "sub-adult" when I got him and has grown to quite a healthy size. The reason for my post is a strange new habit he has picked up...I only handle him on his own terms and when he decides to come out he is usually content sitting on top of my head. Just the last 2 weeks he has started pulling my hair and seems to be trying to eat it!? He is never huffy when he's hanging out with me (occasionally gets a little moody when he's in his enclosure and not wanting me in there cleaning or whatever I'm doing) but never when he's out. Not sure what to think about the hair pulling. I've given him some alternative foods since, thinking he might be bored with crickets and salad. Any ideas?

Wise choice mixing up the insects. Chameleons shouldn't have 1 staple food diet. You should always offer a variety of insects.
When I first got my veiled he did not like cashmere and would try to bite it. Or actually maybe he REALLY liked cashmere and would try to eat it? Either way, he stopped going after eventually and I've never seen him bite at anything since. Your chameleon could just be going through a phase. Have you been putting any product in your hair in particular that might cause your chameleon distress, thus the grabbing and biting?

Thanks for the advice! :) It's definitely reassuring to hear that your cham eventually stopped. Hopefully it's just a phase. And now that you mention it, I think I did have a little hairspray in last time. (Don't usually wear any so didn't think about it before holding him) Thank you!

I thought chams had a very poor sense of smell, at least, I read that somewhere (as well as being nearly deaf)!!??
Maybe just giving more veriety in the diet??!!

Lol Well they don't have ears so I'd imagine they are deaf. Although they can sense vibrations. :p
