Chamaeleo zeylanicus

Motherlode Chameleon

Chameleon Enthusiast
Has anyone here in the states or abroad worked with this species. I have never heard of them being exported and figured it was for religious reasons (the Hindu reverence for nature and would not consider exporting any of there wildlife). I could be wrong though. The net has plenty of pictures of them which is kind of neat.:D:D:D

I love that species, I think it is awesome that it is pretty much the only chameleon to inhabit Asia, unless you consider Asia minor Asia , you get my point. I have not heard of anyone keeping them, but I think It would be neat to know someone with experience in this species.

I saw one a few years back on kingsnake.com, I remember because the guy selling him had no clue what he was. Haven't seen on since.

Is this the species for sri lanki? If so I dont think its ever been available for hobbist, but damn is it cool...

I imagine/assume this chameleon would have similar captive requirements as Chamaeleo chamaeleon chamaeleon or the Mediterranean chameleon (or related species with similar habitats and come from similar climates). Just a bit more tropical compared to a Mediterranean climate.
