Cham Mouth issue

Cage Info:

* Cage Type - Screen Cage 18X18X36
* Lighting - Repti bulb 5.0, also have a 100watt bulb for basking not sure of the brand
* Temperature - in Basking area 90-95f else where in cage 70-75
* Humidity - yes i see him drink often hummidity afterwards watering around 50-60%
* Plants - Schefflera of some sort not to sure what type
* Placement - cage is located in bedroom and top of cage is little taller then me about 5'10
* Location - ohio


Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - Panther Nosybe Male i have had him since jan 09 he was born in oct 08 from Chameleonsonly
* Handling - since its summer i handle him just about everyday to take him outside during winter not nearly as much and no outside
* Feeding - I put about 8-10 crickets in cage a day and i also feed him dusted superworms from my hand so i know he get Supplements
* Supplements - RepCal ultra fine calcium with D3 2x a week and Sticky Tongue Minerall INDOOR formula 1x a week
* Watering - currenty use spray bottle 5-6 times a day i have mistking system just havn't had time to set up do to work travel
* Fecal Description - norm dark brown poo with white pee
* Current Problem - the current problem is with his mouth the vet said it was normal wear and tear but i'm not so sure pic attached he still east just fine.

is there anything i can do for him

In my opinion the vet is correct, I think your guy is just fine. I do have a couple suggestions for you. I would go down to a 75 or 60 watt basking light, 100 watt seems like overkill. On your supplements I would use calcium WITOUT D3 twice a week as long as he is getting natural sunshine, calcium with d3 twice a month and minerall only once a month. Over supplementing is also very bad. Other than that you may be over feeding him, 8 - 10 crickets and superworms are too muck food. Try to cut him down to about 8 crickets or 4 supers every other day. I am assuming the crickets are 5/8 to 3/4 in size. Hope this hepls some. You have a really nice looking guy.

Try some silvadine cream......you may have to get it from your vet. Try not to get it on his teeth.....it could turn them black.

That looks like the early stages of mouth rot to me. Your vet can give you a gel to apply to help. If there is discharge, or a cheesy build-up, your vet will probably want to lance and drain the infected area.

Thats what my little guy has, just not that bad, Ive been treating it with a 1:1 betadine water mixture then add honey until its thick, or atleast 3:1, its been working terrific and im only on the 2nd day.

Mr ester had that same spot on his mouth. It looked like dirt and when I took him to the vet she kinda rubbed it with a swab and decided it wasnt mouth rot. It never got any worse and would go away and come back when he would shed on his mouth. I think It is just a bulid up of dead dirty skin.

Thanks for the replies i will wait till he sheds again and see if it gets better then try some of the stuff you suggested. thanks for the advice on the D3 as well note it just started being warm enough just a few weeks ago.

I think i know the solution!

I have notised why the same thing start to happen with my cham. I live in Portugal and during high season was catching crickets on my back yeard for my Champ (his name is Valera, he is Russian). While i was giving him fresh crickets his teeth was white and shiny, now in the whinter it is very difficult to find crickets with all the rain and cold, so i started to buy some bug larva in the pet store, and his teeth start to chage color as i was govong larva calcium, so what happends, larva degest calcium and Valera eats them. Calcuim makes larva to become rich with vitamin b12, which has an color effect on my cham teeth. Simple. I am introducing crickets (very expencive here) back into his diet and teeth colour getting better by days.
