Cham in sleeping area during the day?

It's been pretty cold here the last couple days. We don't run the heat in the house. One of my chams seems to be fine with it. Sitting under his basking light most of the time. My other Cham however was waiting for his food in the morning. He ate then went to his sleeping area, which is about midway down the cage. Why is he in such a cooler area of the cage if its so cold in the house? Is this ok?

I would like to add. He is awake, he's just in his sleeping area which is much cooler than the rest of the cage.

I have noticed that prior to a shed, panthers will spend less time under the basking spot and even curl up their tail for bed early for a couple of days. Have you seen him stretching like he's about to shed?

Ok, you know what... I think you might be right about a shed coming in the next couple days. He's young and he's about due for his next one ; ) I will keep an eye on these patterns for next time ; )
