Cham hates cup feeding

Ive tried different kinds of cups (colors, sizes) and he doesn't seem interested. I try to free range a few and put some in the cup. He always eats the free range and never touches the ones in the cup.

I'm moving him into his big boy cage soon and I want to strictly cup feed. Is there a way to get him to cup feed without starving him or stressing him out that I haven't thought of? Thanks

I'm still in the research stage (i have no actual chameleon, yet) and you have gotten me curious. Most things I have read says that free ranging is better than cup feeding. How come you want to cup feed when your cham is willing to hunt? I am totally, genuinely curious, not judging, at all! I'm just trying to cram all kinds of useful things into my think tank!

I am also trying to get this cup thing going with no success. I will be heading to the store tomorrow to get more supplies for a few different types. I need my guy to start eating at least worms from the cup. I always FR dubias but a vacation is coming up soon and they too will need to be cup fed. My cham sitter is really freaked out by the roaches so I want to make her as comfy as possible while insuring Kai will be eating. I may give up on cricket cupping all together

What feeders are going in your cup? Where is the placement? Shallow or elongated?
Let us know how you make out with your progress. I will be testing my shallow worm/dubai cup tomorrow. I read a post here that if you cup Dubai with supers it will keep them moving so the cham will stay interested, fingers crossed.

theres a thread i believe lets see your feeder cups. someone on there had a really great design i may be borrowing once my panther gets bigger.

I think all chams will eventually cup feed, once they're hungry enough; it's just that having their prey in such an item as a cup is un natural.

I believe a whole lot goes into what stimulates a cham to strike at it's food; not only the color, and movement of the prey, but seeing it contrasted against a shaking leaf or branch just seems to excite them even more. It's like a lion/wolf who is stimulated to chase it's prey once that prey starts to run….
