Cham behaviour - Man made hate!

So i am a recently new cham owner but my little buddie is doing great other than a wierd chewing habit...

First he attacked his fake plant (only one in the viv) which i removed for fear he might eat some of it.

Thought he wanted some veg to eat so clipped some lettuce for him, which was ignored.

This morning, however, i find him chewing on a cut cable tie..

I cant remove these as his vines would fall down like a pack of cards!

Is this normal? (hes a 2 month old panther growing like a weed and fully hydrated etc, no health problems just a dislike for man made stuff in his environment!)

Any thoughts?

I'm not 100% sure, but it doesn't sound like a problem........was he just chewing or was he all fired up and properly attacking it? Are the cable ties plastic covered? You could maybe replace them with string, if he's regularly chewing at them......

My male blaze does this too dont worry about it you will be suprised how sturdy exo terra. Vines are if thats the vines your using. If not i suggest you get some also i use plastic zip ties on my vines they are chew proof imo also get a benjamina ficus plant but replace the soil with organic soil he just wants to munch on the greens my blaze had been through 2 ficus plants already. If u use zoomed plants you should be safe none of my chams have been able to break off the leaves:cool:

Hey guys thanks for the quick replies and advice.

Hes not fired up when chewing, seems like he is trying to tear it off but dont know why he would go for the cable ties.

Will get a ficus for him to nibble on as it has got to be better than a cable tie or fake plant!!

Strangle...

Yeah if u go to home depot you can get good ones for like 7-10 bucks but remember wash off as much of the soil that you can and REPLACE it with organic soil:D and just watch as he tears into it i also put in wooden dowls like three almost reaching top side of his cage he will live hiding in it plus he will drink the water drops off the plants too

Yeah, there is an umbrella tree in there atm but havin taken out the fake planta its a little bare. Also the breeder kept him with a ficus when he was a baby, so hopefully it will be win win!

Wish me luck :)
