ceramic heat emitters

I need to get a ceramic heat emitter for my granddaughter's bearded dragon. Our house is to cold for the dragon at night and right now she has a red bulb because that is what the pet store told them they needed, which I understand is incorrect. I have seen white and black emitters. Is there a difference and if so which one should I get?
