Today eggs started hatching after 262 days of incubation. Sadly, the CH mother died after dropping her first clutch.

Congrats, Elisa! I can't believe how little they are when they hatch! How is their growth rate compared to other species? I would assume they are relatively slow growers?

That's a little difficult to answer because I haven't seen a whole lot of them grow up. The CH parents were small. They didn't grow fast at all. The female was small.

The more recent clutch that I hatched out in August 2008 has grown faster than the first clutch. But still, not very fast. Maybe staring at them every day makes it hard to tell.

Amazing!
Elisa, at what temperature did you incubate them?
I love the wiedersheimi.

I set the minifridge temp at 65 in warmer weather and raised it a couple of degrees in the winter like about 67. Temps stay within a few degrees of the setting. I love the wieders too. :)

I also have perreti incubating. Those have been much easier to obtain this year than the wieder wieders.

dccr1234 and ciafardo, thanks much guys! :D

Donde, these are not captive hatched. They are actually captive bred. I've been watching these eggs for months thinking the whole time they would never make it. I was shocked that they were fertile. How lucky is that???
