caught a beetle....can I feed it to my cham?

Hey everyone! Hows it going? Sorry its been a while....nursing school has been keeping my crazy busy! Anyway.....I had a large brown beetle fly into my house today. I caught it, and was thinkin of feeding it to my panther. Do you think that would be OK to do?

no. there is no way of telling where its been. you are also probably referring to a june bug.

I fed june bugs to my chameleons all last summer with no ill effects. Having said that though, feeding wild caught bugs always carries the risk of transferring parasites to your cham. You must also be careful not to collect them from areas that use pesticides. Other than that though, I catch moths all summer long and my chams love the variety.

pesticides are used everywhere, so when you say collect them from an area that doesn't use them, it better be a 50000 acre national park
