Catherine's chameleons...

Allow me to introduce you to Catherine's Nosy Faly collection!

On this last visit to drop off Otto and have a visit we decided to focus on Nosy Faly portraits.
Catherine did an amazing job at keeping these guys seperated from each other, yet close enough to give full color displays. Jaw dropping too say the least.

Everyone got a good light shower in the hot weekend heat. Hopefully these don't look like chameleons being 'waterboarded'. It was fascinating to me watch how much they enjoyed being showered. They really soaked it in like a bunch of beach bums.

Yeah, these were on Catherine's back patio. They weren't going anywhere. The tree is a japanese maple, correct Catherine? She has an equaly impressive garden.

Royden makes them look so good

Royden makes them look so good. My pictures don't even come close to his. We had a lot of fun with the process too. It was pretty funny too. Monet, the most personable male with me (he comes out of the cage to eat from my hand) was the most dominant of the males. He continually kept walking across the branches to get to the other males. I would pick him up and set him apart from them and he would immediately make tracks towards one of the again. I never risked seeing what he would do when he got to the other male though. I put Monet back in his cage with the female he has produced two clutches with. She has been showing receptive colors again. Before the photo shoot Monet was not very interested in her. After I brought him in after seeing those males he went right for that female and that was that. Her third clutch is in production.

And for Davider...I have four clutches incubating. The first was laid in April so I won't have hatchlings until November or so. I'm not counting my babies before they are hatched though! I hope to have some for sale next spring.

Royden also took a sequence of pictures as a Veiled baby as it emerged from the egg. My first Veiled eggs started hatching the day he happened to be here. I think he will post those pictures later on. The detail he got in those pictures truly blew me away. I was stunned. He also took photos of my first two Crested Gecko hatchlings. I've got 17 stunning adults that are split into color type breeding groups. They only lay two eggs at a time but they do it regularly. I'm finding two eggs almost every week now. And they only take 60 days to hatch. Only 60 days! And they are so easy to keep. Royden is going to post pictures of the Geckos in that category for other reptiles some time in the future. He got one photo of the baby washing his eye with his tongue that is super (they have no eye lids and wash their eyes to keep them clean).

My favorite photo is the one of Otto and his bride Zora. She's a bride but the honeymoon is on hold. Otto was looking at her with adoring eyes the whole time. And Zora, who is gravid with infertile eggs, did not mind having him next to her during the photo shoot despite her gravid condition. Any gaping and hissing was done when I moved towards her. Royden was surprised to see how pissy she was when I was handling her. She was furiously trying to bite me. She wanted to rip my fingers off. When Otto was near her she was totally calm and not adverse to being near him at all. Zora was wild caught in Florida. I have one clutch from her already. She was gravid at the time of capture. I don't handle her much because she has always been shy with me. The photo shoot was the first time I've ever really done much in the way of handling her other than initial parasite treatments.

Thanks again Royden.....your photo work is worth so much to me. I could never do it myself. Not enough patience to learn correct settings even if I had the correct equipment
