Can you tell me how old my veiled chameleon is?

I just got my first veiled chameleon today and I would like to know how old he is.

Pictures are here:

An exact age would be nice but anything close I would really appreciate it!

Thanks, Andrew.

He seems around 3 months old to me.

Yeah, that would be my guess. It's really hard to guess things like this because they grow at different rates and some breeders really produce big babies while others produce small babies. I'd say he's almost certainly between 8 and 16 weeks (not the 4 you were told).

Do you know for sure it's a male? Male veileds have little "spur" things sticking out of the heel of their back feet. If it's not a male, that's something you want to know from the beginning.

welcome!Congrats on getting your new chameleon. Please read JannB's blog and it will explain everything you need to keep a healthy chameleon. I would remove all the substrate(what you have on the cage floor) that mulch like substance and leave it bare. Also remove the moss. All this will get wet and soggy and breen bacteria not to mention your chameleon may intentionally or accidentally injest it and get ill or even worse, die. oops! meant to post this on your other thread where you posted pics of your set up!

Cute Cham :)
That spur males have at least to me looks more like a bump where their foot splits- shaped kind of like your heel
That red glow on him in a couple of pic's is that a red light?

If so you don't need it. Most just use a regular house hold bulb for heat and Please don't leave it on at night, even the red one- they need darkness for sleep.

The red light is the heat lamp for him, and since last night was the first night I had him I did turn off the lights for him.

Thanks for the advice, I took the moss out but I'm afraid spooked the little feller, as soon as I stuck my hand in the cage he turned very light green and ran to the top of the cage :(. I hope he isn't this skittish when he grows up :/.

awww poor little guy! Their eyes make them look even more confused than they are.

He will be fine once he settles in hopefully it won't take more than a week.
My lily knows I am the food supplier and at meal time she is never skittish or angry :)

Rest of the day typical Female never know what you will get when you open the door!

This forum is so full of helpful knowing people all willing to share which is great! I have only had Lily 3 months and I feel like they taught me so much! They really care :)
