Can you keep females together?

I did a search and not much turned up. I plan on keeping all my males separate and to themselves, but I was wondering. If I had two females of the same local and coloration, could I house them together safely?

I just acquired a female from Chuck G. and all of his were together.

They were all young and thats just for the show.
Once they are in the 3-4 month age,they are all separate.
You may be able to get away with a very large cage housing 2 females but as a general rule its never a good idea.
