I guess that I am one of the extremely lucky ones then. I have had my boy for 5 days now and I gave him a few days to acclimate to his new surroundings.
I put my hand into his cage and I let him climb onto my hand. I let him get comfortable with that and only handled him for a few seconds and let him climb onto his plant. The next day I did the same and he stayed on my hand for longer and I again returned him to his plant.
By the next night (tonight) he was cage climbing and trying to get to me (climbing up the sides and onto the ceiling of the cage) I put my hand in there to help him off the ceiling and back onto the plant. He did the climbing a few times and finally I let him climb out and sat down on my bed with him still on my hand. He just sat and stared at me while looking around my room for a good half an hour or so and then the most amazing thing happened, he fell asleep on my hand! I let him sleep for about half an hour until I figured out how I could get him back into his cage so he could sleep on his plant. I put my hand near his plant, flipped on the UVB bulb and he opened his eyes all cute and groggy like a little kid who fell asleep on the couch and Mommy carries him to bed. He got onto his plant securely and I turned the UVB bulb off and his night heat bulb on.
Today was a big day for us, I introduced Superworms into his diet and we had some quality bonding time and then him sleeping on me.
