Can the humidifier bother my cham?

So I have been having a tough time with keeping the humidity up lately. I have off and on used a humidifier that claims to be invisible mist. Now that it is summer for some reason it has been more difficult to keep my guys cage humid. Switched to a visible mist humidifier that actually shows signs of humidity on the cage and the mist. Humidity is great now but I feel like the visible mist might be bugging my guy. He has great colors but seems to be staring at the mist and avoiding areas where the mist is in his cage.... How close should the humidifier be? Right now it is a few inches away so the mist is spraying right in the cage. Should I put it further away? Will he adjust to the mist at some point? TIA

Depending on your local climate and whether you need an AC in summer, the cage humidity can definitely change by season. Many of us use ultrasonic (probably what you mean by visible mist) humidifiers on our cages. Most chams learn to ignore the mist. If not, you could add more foliage so he feels he can get away from it.

Okay thank you! I would think that since it is the summer the humidity would be easier to keep in the cage... I haven't hooked up the ACs yet... I was thinking maybe because it is hotter and the light on the cage is drying the cage out more... I feel like since I hooked up the humidifier he has been eating less, but then again I added large superworms which he may have been hesitant to try (they were pretty big). I took them out today in hopes he would eat... but all he ate today was a medium size hornedworm.... He did fill up for a few days prior to the humidifier on phoenix worms, hornedworms, and crickets... Maybe he is just full. I am just wicked paranoid... He also went to sleep a little early today... about an hour early... I will keep an eye on him. Hopefully it is just an adjustment to the humidifier... Thanks for the insight

Going to sleep a bit early is perfectly normal, as long as the chameleon isn't sleeping during the beginning or middle of the day. That could indicate some problems. An hour early isn't so bad though and a lot of peoples' chameleons will do this. Mine usually finds his sleep spot an hour or more before the lights even go out and he will sit there until the lights go off. Sometimes I catch him starting to drift off a bit before lights out. He knows what time sleepy time is

Thanks for the input. I can't help but feel that something might be going on with him... Yesterday he went to sleep an hour early.... Typically in the mornings as soon as the lights come on he crawls up and suns himself, yawns, poops... lol it is pretty scheduled. This morning the lights came on, he woke up but didn't crawl up to the basking area or even move around a lot for about two hours... Right now it is two hours before bed time and he is in sleeping position.... typically he sleeps near the top of the cage, but the past two days he is on the lowest vine in the cage.... I wonder if he is just trying to spend some time in the shade...but has never really done that before... I made him a check up appointment for Friday morning.... I could be paranoid, but he is the best cham ever.... super social loves coming out of his cage and crawling in the plants and on me and my daughter... I just want to make sure he is ok...

^^ They aren't always predictable and don't always follow the same patterns day in and day out. At least in making an appointment, your paranoia will be eased. I'm thankful that your chameleon has a caring owner such as yourself to make sure everything is okay.

True. Nothing is ever completely predictable. It will definitely put my mind at ease. And thanks for the encouraging words. He is my first cham and I just want to make sure he gets everything he needs. Love him❤ even more than my cat
