Well I woke upp this morning n I noticed ants by the cage I wiped them down n took my cham out for some sun while I clean the ants but they dnt seem to go away does anyone know of anythinf I can use to get rid of them I checked around n found noting that would attract them
Does anyone got away to get rid of them??
Besides using poison idk if its okkay using poison wouldnt like to harm my cham

this is one of the best old school secrets. go get some liquid peppermint from the grocery store. put some on a paper towel out side the cage where you would think they are coming from. TADA NO MO ANTZ!

Can you move the cage or make it more secure? Are the ants actually inside the cage? Don't use poison..........

I moved the cage outside for a while im gonna go n clean it right now
Aha okkay thanks for the peppermint advice ill try that out
N well the cage doesnt have any left overs or anything theres no more ants in the cage there were bearly some cuz I spoted them before it was too late but they are on the wall next to were the cage usually is n on top of the tabble were I keep my chams cage on
I really dislike ants lol

Would it b okkay if I sprayed some poison on the wall n let it dry out or is that bad for the cham as well

I would advise not, just in case.......but let us know how the mint works, I never heard that one before.....as long as there are not ants getting in with the cham it's not a problem for the cham, just for you.....:)

If you spray poison and it gets on the ant and the ant manages to get to the cage then the poison could end up in the cage.

Another idea that might work....get 4 blocks of wood and 4 shallow containers. The blocks of wood need to be taller than the sides of the containers. Put the blocks of wood in the shallow containers and fill the containers with water. The ants shouldn't swim across the water so your cage should be safe from the ants. Any cords going to the cage/lights can be wrapped for a couple of inches below the cage level with a clear tape so that the ants can't climb past it. I hope these instructions are clear enough.

dang now thats inventive!

I've been told by other members on other forums that it works...so since I didn't come up with it myself I don't deserve any credit for it. Never had an ant problem in cages yet...thank heavens! (I have had ants in my house though....and that's bad enough.)

I was also told that a circle/square of allspice or mace powder around the cage can keep the ants out...but I haven't tested it.

don't use the water trick cuz ants can live 14 days under water.... thank you biology. i would try sticky tape round the cage or the peppermint thing. DONT use poison, what if you cham tries to eat an ant with poison?

they might be in one of your plant pots. Repot your plants and wash them down. Often when they have nests in the pots there are aphids or scales on the plants.

Follow the trail to find the source of your ants. Most likely they are coming from outside and you can deal with them there. You can also seal up any hole in the wall they might be coming from with caulking. Dried caulk around windows are an easy way in for ants.
