Can Chameleons get Snake Mites?

Okay, I purchased a young ball python about a month ago and just discovered that he has snake mites. He is far separated from all the other snakes, but his cage has been next to my two juvenile Panther Chameleons for a couple days now. He is in a glass aquarium (20 Long), and they are each in a 24x24x48 screen cage. I just sprayed him with Provent-a-mite so the mites should be gone soon, but does anybody know if snake mites go after Chameleons? I can spray the Chameleon's cages too, but I'd rather not. Thanks for any input!

i was in this same situation a couple months ago!! a friend of mine who is a reptile rescuer and has dealt with mites many times told me that they can get snake mites, it doesnt often happen but it can. i would move the bp cage asap, if possible vaccumn any carpet or fabric near the cage and throughly inspect your panthers cages for any signs of mites. this is what i did as well as treating the mites of course and was lucky enough to not have any mites get to my cham!

i would not spray your chams cage with provent a mite until other members have chimed in, i have heard of it killing snakes and chams are much more delicate and i have never heard of provent a mite being used with chams

Okay, I didn't see any mites on the floor of the cage, and the whole set up is on a table 14" high, so I sprayed the carpet underneath with prevent-a-mite so now all I have to worry about is me transmitting them or there already being mites in the Chameleon cage. Hopefully.

i would keep a really close eye on your panthers, looking them over well each day to see if there are any on them and hope you caught it fast enough! of course i am not positive on the fact that snake mites can infest chams, a vet has not told me this but its better to be safe then sorry so just keep an eye out :)
glad you didnt spray the panthers cage! lol. that may have been bad..
