why does my chameleon hiss at me when i go to pick her up i have 2 yemen chameleons and the oldest one hiss at me when i approch it thanks

cause thats what they do!Thats normal veiled reaction to its keeper.Better get use to it.hahahaha

If they are hissing at you you shouldn't be handling them that much its to stressful for them

My veiled hasnt been TOUCHED since i put him out of his little "cup" when i bought him, even when i was moving his cage he sat at the end of a long stick. my veiled is like extra vicious

I have one female who has a sign on her cage that says in orange: DANGER DANGER LOL
I just put her in a larger habitat and she has become a bit more docile. She will eat out of my hand and I think that is an improvement. She has more plants (real and fake) in her cage and seems to be much happier.

Vieldes are known for being the pissiest of the chams.

My veild handfeeds but once the cricket is swallowed if your hand is still in the cage he LUNGES!

it is normal. my male veiled is like a pitbull he bites and then starts thrashing around. he hisses constantly. i hand feed him daily, he is not aggresive then but as soon as where done he puffs up and starts hissing again. thats just his personality. i only hold him once a month to super clean his home. i tried alot of different things, silkies,hornworms ect.. fed from my hand. he has no problem he will even crawl onto my hand. as soon as the treat is gone he is back to the demon cham. i dont mind too much, i never planned on holding that much any way. in nature agression is a sign of health. non agressive predators are often sick or weak.

Mine does it sometimes when I try to get him out! Dont worry its a normal thing they do! I usually leave him alone if thats they reaction I get when I put my hand near him lol
