Hiya Im about to replace the spotlights that came with my viv to these and im wondering if I use them (as they are Halogen) will they damage my chameleons eyes???

I am thinking of removing the wooden units on top of my vivs and then just getting one of these bulbs and an exoterra glo light per viv and use a 5% reptiglo uvb florescent tube for its uva/uvb needs.

The question is will the halogen damage the chameleons eyes????

I personaly would not use them in a Cham cage those were ment for basking lamps for turtles so the heat would penetrate the shell. I think those would bake your cham.

Not if I use the lower wattage ones if you get me!! I could go for the lowest wattage one (50 Watts) and take it from there!!! Plus Id be monitoring the heat by connecting it to a thermostat! So will that be ok you reckon???

Dont know about that brand secifically, but many people do use halogens.

A quote from this article http://www.chameleonnews.com/10JulWeldon.html
"...An incandescent halogen bulb would be an improvement over the standard household bulb since the halogen bulbs have an inert gas and a halogen like iodine or bromine added that produce even more of the visible light spectrum..."
