Calibrating hygrometers

As winter is upon us and I have seen multiple posts concerning humidity levels, I found a members blog (closed?) that explains the process in pretty great detail.

In reading the post, Carlton had suggested it become a sticky in one of the forums, but did not see it (blind as a bat). It's well worth the read if you have not calibrated your analog hygrometer in a while. I looked for a video, but didn't find any that I liked. All info is about the same in the videos, much of them are for calibrating cigar humidor hygrometers. No difference.

You don't even need that much salt! Even just a Tablespoon dampened with a few drops of water (paste-like) is enough to give you the 75% reading in 6 hours in a tiny container or plastic bag.

Understood. Just re-posting. There is the bottle cap method that I use that is similar to what's already been posted. Same procedure. Just put table salt in a bottle cap and then moisten the salt with water to a cake like consistency. Not too much water, as the salt will dissolve and test will be invalid.

Yep, I do the same thing on all of the hygrometers in the house once a month, since they can fail without warning.
