Whats fellow Cham lovers Im wondering if anyone can help me with my prob im almost done building my first cham cage and its gonna be sick sooooooo sick but the veild i have right now is about 7 in and the new cage is 40w 70h 30d soooo im kinda worried he will get a little lost in the mass jungle of vegetation so some one help me out with a little advice thank you

hi im no expert but i think he may get a little lost as it is alot bigger than he is in at the moment someone else maybe able to help you more tho you got any pics for us?

Just make a devider/temp floor to cut the hight in half. Not much else you can do besides letting him grow up in a smaller cage.

If he's 7inches stv it shouldn't be too bad as long as he cup feeds ok. If thats 7inches total, then it may be a bit excessive and as pure says try and split it up a bit or just don't fill it as much! If you only put plants in one half, then he'll spend the majority of time in it anyway as going to the other half will mean he's exposed, and chams really don't like being that exposed! But yeah, if you can split in 2 that'll be fine.

if he isnt cramped in his baby cage then just let him grow in it till he looks big enough...how big is his current cage?

silk his body is 7 in. and yes i am going to cup feed....

the cage hes in now is 24h 18w 10d. the cage is half way done and i wont be able to split it at all but i do have a 65gal flexarium but honestly ive put so much work into this new cage that i really just want to see him in it..............should i just be patient some one please tell me no

You can leave him in the smaller cage, or shift him to the bigger one, it is up to you. In both cases, you can cup feed to be sure the Cham is getting food. Be sure to have the watering and lights set up before you move him.

I think it'll be fine! I had my guy at 3 inches in a 2 x 2 x 4 (well, he's still in it now but not for much longer!) Here's a thread about it: https://www.chameleonforums.com/baby-cages-24961/

At the end of the day, in the wild they're not confined to such a small space, food and water are not so openly available, and they manage to survive so why is there a mass hysteria about small chams in a big enclosure (ok hysteria is probably going over the top - but you get my point!). If you monitor him and make sure he is eating you'll have no problems!

thats what im sayin i dont get all of that but i do have to ask. but i am a little worried now that i think about it cuz i not cup feedin now so i should probably start that now ......right

Yeah, check to see that he will cup feed as my guy won't! But, I only use locusts as his feeders and they always climb up towards the light so it makes it easy for me. It shouldn't make much of a difference though if you put his feeders in slowly and near him so he can take them if he wants!

You got any pics of your enclosure? I'm really intrigued to see it now!

i will as soon as its done ive been procrastinatin on it so so so many tiny details but most def i will put them up when im happy with the final product
