Hello everyone, I was wonder if anyone had any recommendations of what to do with this cage off facebook, the owner claims the chameleon didn’t die and that he sold it and got a bearded dragon, but i want to disinfect it so that I can bring my new cham home to a safe encloser, it looks very new and clean, but I want to be safe, anyone know what I should use to make sure it will kill any sicknesses or parasites, thank you!

Depends how much they are asking... This is a zoo med and are pretty affordable brand new. But if you can get it for 20-30 bucks go for it and just sanitize.

1:15 would be 1 portion bleach to fifteen portions of water for instance -1 cup bleach to 15 cups of water. Using bleach often isn't good for your cages but once per cage turnover hasn't been an issue for me. I prefer the concentrated peroxide method if there is any chance of coccidia but I have a backyard to work in and it's easy for me. I don't know what the peroxide costs now but it was cheap when I bought it at the beauty supply. What ever you choose start with hot soapy water to physically remove any contamination.

I have a backyard I can use as well luckily! and with this concentrated peroxide, can I use that over using bleach, also what peroxide brand and type do you use if you could kindly link me to it, and lastly, after using the peroxide should I rinse the cage again and let it dry? thank you!

Rinse very well, at higher concentration this is a powerful bleaching agent. Don’t get it in your eyes or on clothes you love. Prevent and rinse away any skin contact. In short follow the precautions on the label.
Here is what I keep on hand. I bought it in person at a beauty supply store.

Letting the cage dry in sun light can also help sanitize.
