Cage for Baby Veiled

Sounds great. I was thinking some fake plants. What do you think?
 
The baby will need allot of leaves to drink from and many more branches and vines to crawl on. These work great: http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog...arium-accents/-/exo-terra-jungle-vine-medium/ or you can cut some branches yourself. Branches from outside are ok from most trees. Clean them well and some member bake them in the oven. Cut the branch the size you need and thumb tacks can be use on each end pushed throught the screen into the branch to hold the branches up. Here's a cage that I'm using now for the babies. The plant in the bottom is a Pothes, they work great for holding water for them to drink from and also gives them vines to walk on in the cage.

Tank is looking good man, I like the idea of a fan club lol. Im getting a baby as well. I am still waiting on my screen cage as i bought the wrong type of cage initially. I cant wait to sest it up im tapping my toes just reading this thread. Good luck with the rest of your set up man i think your going to have one healthy happy cham!
 
Thank you d. i just got some fake vines in the mail today. im going to add them to my enclosure around 7 tonight (pacific) and post pics. then, i think it will be complete. :)
 
Ok folks, i believe i am finished. The only thing i can see that needs fixing is the organic soil. which i will be buying on friday.

Woah, it's like a jungle in there. I would put a bundle of the fake plants and put it up in the upper regions of the cage on the opposite side of the basking/warming lamp. Then it can hide in the top (not too close to the top though, he shouldn't get smooshed if he tries to sit on top of the bundle. He might even like a makeshift loose cave out of vines to hide in, then he can peek out and still be hidden.) Then add several different levels of branches in the basking area. That's how my little Pan (veiled) liked his cage set up when he was a baby. He would stress if he didn't have a place at the top to hide (he still does :)) Now I string a pothos up at the top in a corner so he can hide in it when he gets scared/angry at me. What works well for branches are wooden dowels, bamboo rods, bird perches, and even branches cut straight from trees!
 
Made some updates. I took some fake vine and hung it near the top of the screen. I think this should work.

Thank you for the links! I will read these over. I feed my crickets and supers veggies as well as dry food. I'm still learning and trying new things. :)
 
It looks good! :) The only other thing I can see is to bring the leaves of your plant down from the top of the cage by triming or bending and maybe tucking under the branches. You want to try to keep him down a bit from the top of the cage and the lights.
 
Looks much better! Definitely read the links Sandra gave you. Gutloading is very important and the Fluker's is not going to be sufficient. You're on the right track now!
 
That's looking very good! You can also lift the lights away from the top of the cage a little. I find that my chams as babies always love climbing the screen, regardless of how much there is to climb in the cage, so it's easier to keep the lights off the screen than keeping the chameleons off the screen.
