Cage dimension question

Hey guys,

I already have 24"W x 36"H x 18"D homemade setup for my Veiled, however I was wondering if a setup with different dimensions would work just as well. I was wondering if a 36"W x 24"H x 15"D hung a foot off the ceiling would be fine for my veiled. Does the cage need to be taller than it is wide?
Basically it would be almost the same setup but on its side. I'm asking because I was planning on making a hanging cage, possibly along my entire wall; it would be up higher than what the current cage is at.
Another question is what would be the smallest size advisable for the Depth of the cage, is 15" too small?

Any advice on this would help,, thanks.

I guess i'm wondering why it needs to be taller than wider. Is it because they prefer walking up and down alot which i've seen my veiled do or is it an elevation issue?
If it's about the territorial space, won't the wideness help with that? Or do veileds prefer a vertical territorial space over and wide one?

they feel safe higher above predators(you)
more height provides more options of a temperature gradient

So would a wide (4-5ft long) cage hung at around 7 feet high off the ground with the lighting on one end work just as well? That would cover both height and a range of temps I would think.
But would this work for a veiled or do they need the temp gradient to be on a vertical scale?
