This guy is one of the offspring from female #3...He was labeled as 'Big/Major Red'(red/blue dot) by StudioCham when he was younger.
Here is a video of him trying to mate with the female from my avitar pic (Megana's illegitimate daughter:)).
She obviously doesnt want any...she layed infertile eggs in the beginning of December that were about the size of veiled eggs...So I am not too sure of what time to start keeping her in the cage with the male...Not sure of how long before she would have layed those inferts that she would be receptive...
Does anyone have any idea on what legnth of time the female stays receptive for??

Okay, sorry...I thought the video was going to load with ease:rolleyes:.
Whats the best way to post videos here?
thanks
Joe

There was no tail flailling...at all. Tail stayed curled up. I think they only extend their tail in a flailling motion if they are threatening another male...if im not mistaken.

What are some of the signs that females show when they are becoming receptive?
Thanks

I know with panthers they are receptive up to 3 months on their first cycle but I know nothing about melleri breeding. Loved the vid, ive never seen them court and flick their lobes like that. Really cool.

Yeah, he flickers his lobes about 40-70 times during each episode...All while approaching her in incriments of roughly six inches at a time.

How often has he done this? Maybe when I clear some of these veileds out, I'll have room for them again... I wouldn't be surprised if you get them to breed this year.

By the way - thank you again for the nasty roaches. I'm going to get them well established like my dubia.

He does that whenever I put him with either of the two females...Neither of them are ready for him yet...
