buying a panther chameleon ?

Dra on here just did. But reptiledepot is currently under investigation for misrepresentation. So if you were going to go with them i would hold off for a bit till this is settled.

You will feel a lot more comfortable ordering from someone in the site sponsors list above. Chams are not something to go cheap on. You buy cheap from a retailer and you are risking buying an unsure animal that may or may not have been revcieving the proper care. The site sponsors are names that have proven themselves to be trustworthy sources to buy a cham from... and you know you are going to recieve a healthy Cham that recieved the proper care prior to your purchase. Not only that but they will be prepared to give you the CORRECT advise you need to start raising your Cham.

are you still having trouble posting pics? just keep practicing.

we arent saying one way or another, this just came up today and members are looking into it. Unless you were planning on breeding yours this wont be such a big matter because reptiledepot may be "spinning" the truth as to who their chams are being breed from.

Is that one of the Ambilobes that they have available right now? Did you get him recently? Anyways...what does it mean that they are under investigation for misrepresentation? That makes me curious :)...anyone know whats up with that?

Lol...

Oh man... Okay... I thought you were looking for a recommendation...

Welp... This is just going to back up what I said in my above post... Buying from them you could end up with an unsure Cham...

Do you know the Locale?
Did you ask for Male...And did they tell you it was a male???

Reason Being...
That little Man... Sure looks like a little lady to me.
I could be mistaken ... You should post more pics to be sure...

She looks nice and healthy to me.

EDIT: PLEASE READ! Reptile Depot is Innocent until Proven Guilty in the court of Cham Keepers

There is a question about the picture they are using to sell their Chams being their picture, or even being an accurate representaoin of the chams they are selling. TBD.

If you are ordering from out of state i would go with someone else. I go there for supplies and cages since they are reasonably priced and some of the guys there are pretty nice. but their husbandry for their animals always seem questionable. Try to find a local breeder through kingsnake.com. or here under the for sale section. Does anybody know what statement reptile depot claimed, and was said to be false?

I forgot someone here spend 300 bucks also and s/he didn't know what type but it looks really nice tho. And s/e got it from reptiledepot also.

I'm new here.. but seriously... 1 accusatory thread does not count as "Currently under investigation for misrepresentation".

Your rapid willingness to destroy someone's business over one customer who thought he saw someone else's photo, with extremely vague details surrounding what exactly that photo was supposed to represent.

Did they say "This is a picture of the sire of this particular clutch" or did it say "This is the adult form of this species"? Snaking someone's picture off the internet is crappy at best, but one thread on a message board doesn't qualify as evidence of some kind of police or any other kind of official investigation.

The only thing that can be said of reptile depot is that they are a pet store, not a breeder. Their information regarding the origins, is limited to what they are told by the breeder or importer that they purchase from. Their ability to sex a young chameleon is only as good as their experience allows them to be.

The same can be said of any pet store, or amateur breeder purchase.

With those limitations in mind, their animals are priced accordingly.

The photos of the panther's nether regions need to be more clear, can you post more? But from what was shown, I'm going to look again to be SURE, but I'm going to say female. Try to post actual photos and not links to photos...

Edit: Photos are too blurry, need clearer ones before a definite answer can be given.

Im just saying from what i have heard that they could be misrepresenting whom their clutches are sired by, by hanging a picture of xerxis above a cage a chams they have for sale. It is still TBD and they are assumed to be innocent until someones looks into it, i think socalison has taken that position.

Take one of two routes here.
1) Figure out how to use macro mode, or switch to a macro lens depending on your camera.
2) Take a sharp, in focus picture at a high resolution from a distance, then zoom and crop digitally.

Nobody can tell anything from a photo that out of focus.

aren't those the same pics you already posted? Well, if not, they are still way too blurry to tell. What did you purchase it from reptile depot as? And did you order it online or did you get it directly from the store?
