Buying a Chameleon

okkk im learning lolol im also gonna purchase a dripperr.

lollll nowwww when do i turn off the lights for my little champ to go to sleep and when do i turn them back on whats a norma schedule for them?

Use a timer so it is the same time, I leave my blinds open so mine get morning and evening light before his lights go on and off.
Most do a 12 hour cycle. 12 on, 12 off

ok supper when i feed my baby cham do i have to feed him from my hand or put a bowl of crickets and he will know to eat it from there?

Imp, until he is older, cup feed him. Oregon had a great suggestion to use a small bird cup that will hang on the side of the cage. Otherwise crix jump all over the place!. Worms on the otherhand are easy to hand feed, but they hhave to be really small for a baby. And still you will want to wait til he is a little older to feed worms

First, that was imo ( in my opinion) not imp! Sorry
Second, only feed what he will eat in a few minutes, dep on species, I feed mine 12 to 15 small crix and 3 silks(these every other day) and he is 6 mo

Depends on the species, since I only have a panther, my knowledge is limited to what I have learned or read. Not practiced. Let me go back to see your species and I will come back!. Sorry im not more help, you need more input from the Sr members here, they have all the knowledge

Its great buying chameleons online from a sponsor for the fact you know they were cared for.....the bad part... You never know what could go wrong during the shipping phase.... Ive read of people getting their chams in dead because of the stupid delivery guy was taking his time.

thanks buddd

i was gonna buy mine online but im scarred that he might not survive but they do say they have a 100% Live Arrival Success Rate sooo lolol idono

Ya you just gotta stay on the delivery people. If its fedex make sure you let them know its a live animal and needs to be shipped as soon as possible.

is there anyy specific good sits were u guys order from if so would u be able to share the linkk i live in canada so would have to be shipped hear .

I havnt ordered online yet sorrys =[[ but from what I hear alot of people order from Kammers or llReptiles or the screamealons site u posted

Panthers are awesome! Just dont buy one on a whim because Chameleons take a lot of work and $. Not the easiest pets but worth it if you do your research :)

the web address that you posted is where i got my little guy from and i thought it was great and the way that they ship them even though he will take about 12 hours to get to your house it is prob less stress than you picking one up from a pet shop and will be prob a lot healthier than one too. i have had my little guy for a few weeks and he is very friendly and starting to show a lot of color for just 4 months i dont cup feed i just let the crickets free range in the cage imo it will give him more exercise and teach him hunting skills. but if you decide to free range the crickets in the cage either take them out at night or put some cricket food in the cage so that they dont starve and go after the cham.

@LickMyShoes: it is good you are interested and asking many questions before you buy (this is very important!) I just wish to *REALLY STRESS* that chameleons are EXOTIC animals. They are not your typical pets. They are HIGH maintenance but not hard....they do require a fair amount of time and money.

You are really excited right now, but a year from now when you have him are you still going to be excited to make sure you are home to mist his cage 4x a day or to spend another $100 for a pump for him or a vet visit or something. Just make sure :)
