Burns marks or falling injury??

Do you think this dark mark could be a burn? my panther chilli has had it now for around 2 weeks. we did replace his uva/uvb bulb aprox 3 weeks ago so am thinking it must be a burn even though the lamp is above the viv and out of reach but we noticed an increase in thirst which is really unlike him and then the mark appeared. He is still eating although not as much or as often as what is normal for him. I am going to take him to the vets asap, is there anything i can do in the meantime to make him more comfortable? I had originally thought it was an injury from a fall but thinking its a burn since the timing of the bulb change coincides with the start if it ? i also dont want to mess around with it incase i make things worse am worried about my little guy hes our first cham but we dont have any specialised vets nearby so have to make do with them probably googling to find out themselfs. Thanks for any advise

Looks like a thermal burn. What type of UVB fixture and bulb are you using?

That’s a halide. Not to panic you, but if you have that right on the cage, you’re not just overheating your Cham, but blasting him with uvb. Do you have a solar meter. If not, I’d either get one, or else switch to t5’s until you get one. MH can produce a lot of uvb, and be very useful in certain settings, but they are dangerous if used without a way to gauge the uvb output.

Yeah this is why he has the thermal burns and he would be overexposed very easily with this one. These should not be used without a solarmeter 6.5.
I would switch to a T5HO fixture with a 5.0 or 6% bulb and then basking would be 9 inches below it for the correct UVI level. A regular 60 watt household bulb with a distance of 9 inches to basking will give you approximately 80 degree temps at basking but you will want to double check your temps as well with it. basking temps should be 80-85max.

You will need to take him to a vet so you can get silver sulfadiazine cream to treat the thermal burn and any infection.
