Burn on his head

I went in my cham's room last night on my way to the laundry room and flipped on the room light and noticed Franklin had a black streak up is dorsel plate and on his left brow.

What kind of cream can I get for him, is there a better way of getting a prescription cream from a vet without taking him in, since there aren't any straight reptile vets around here?

And also he is very pissy with me lately as some of you may have read in my other thread, so what would be the best way to go about getting him out calmly to apply such creams without him freaking out and trying to run away?

can any part of his body touch the screen under the basking light for him to get burned? Are you sure it is a burn? Can you post pics? No sense in putting on something and stressing him out while doing so if it does not need to be done.

Not unless he climbs upside down on the screen...but then he wouldn't be burned on the top part of his head. The only close vine is about 8" away from the screen under the light, and he'd have to do some pretty good reaching to get that close to it.

I only think it's a burn b/c it looks like the burns that I see on other chams, but I'll post a pic later when I get home. It was just weird that it was only on one side of his face, and looked almost black. I didn't think they had to have direct contact to get a burn. Thought just spending too much time underneath the basking lamp was enough for a burn if it was close

Yes, the cham doesn't have to have direct contact to a heat source to get a thermal burn. A thermal burn is when an area of direct exposure above the animals suggested critical temperature causes the animal to burn just as you would if you were in the sun too long. Some pics would be the best. In the mean time put a thermometer in the bask area, and lower your branches accordingly or raise your lamp if your cham is climbing the screen top.

wow....I feel like an idiot

Ok so I SWEAR it was BLACK and it looked like charcoal on his face, and of course as soon as I get home and check on him, everything looks normal. Not a mark on his face.

I mean it looked EXACTLY like the thermal burns I've seen on here. And it also wasn't like that on the other side at all. I've never seen him only change colors on one side, and I've definitely never noticed him get black on his face. Wish I would've taken a picture last night so you all didn't think I was crazy. I will next time I see it just to show ya'll why I freaked out, and just KNEW it was a burn. I'm so smart:rolleyes:

my male veiled gets black streaks on his face most prodominately when he sleeps, it is his color marks :p makes his look extra grumpy in his sleep heh :D

yeah it's crazy. I've just never seen them like that. His whole body is usually so bright green. I looked in last night just to see and it didn't look near as bad, but it was definitely darker in the same area.
