I did the same thing a couple of days ago with 500 bsf and half an apple. Oh man, they had that thing down to the skin in less than a day. I was impressed.

Their coco coir is only good for so long when it smells it's time to switch it out, I get a fine screen with a handle put some of them in and wash it through with ro water into clean bucket a few times then I put the screen full in new container with new coco coir until all of them is done, it makes very very good fertilizer, the only bad thing is it is alkaline p.h. 8.0 without buffering down, I use 1/4 cup bsfl concentrate in 1 gallon of ro water using 2 drops of apple cider vinegar as a buffer it takes the whole solution to a ph of 6.5 and plants love it!!..... I also put apples in mine and kale, mangos, orange peel etc.. very efficient composters!!
