What do I use to rinse them off/clean them?

If they are smaller branches:
Wash them with soap and water, rinse very well.
Put them in your oven, bake them for 30 minutes.
That kills any lil critters that might be there, but it also solidifies the wood (i.e its harder for water to soak in) and the branch will last longer.
Larger branches try the same, but obviously might not be able to bake them. Dump boiling water on them instead.
Few times with branches I would wash them and they seemed clean, but after baking them - saw a few spiders dead in the pan.
