I have a question on the topic.. once uve reached a large population can u temporarily stop or drastically slow there breeding?

Lower the temps, remove all the males. I imagine this would get it done.

Awsome. How do u tell who's who? I think itd be easier to sell/give away then to stop breeding..
Next question... Do u have enough to sell a small starter for me? :) I'd rather support a sponser than a chain store but would rather support a member than a sponser ;). I'm just not sure the quantity u have if u can spare?

Hey guys/gals. Dang, can I just say roaches are EXPENSIVE?? I'm paying 50 cents a roach no matter where I go... I've tried Mulberry, our guys we got our buddy from... I mean come on, they're vermin!!

Anyway, I have been looking into breeding to save cost a little bit and to feed my cham and gecko. Anyone who's experienced with breeding could give me some advice?? Or tell me a good site or get me some decently priced roaches?? Thanks!

easiest to feeder to breed in my opinion. in fact i have so many dubias, i have to sell them! i have an ad in the classifieds. you need adults to get the colony really going. i like a 1 to 6 ration of adult males and females. you need heat and lots of food. i use cricket crack and a heat pad under the roach bin. lmk if you're interested and i can get you some.

Sorry OP I don't want to steal ur thread I just dont want to start a new one when we are very much rowing the same boat :)

If you're looking at dubias (best option in my opinion), the males have full wings on their back. Females are darker colored and are a little hard to tell from big nymphs. As far as nymphs go, they're harder to tell. I would need someone to tell me on those

Yep. Males have wings, females have lil wings. Very distinguishable.

Bwwwaahahaha! Nor can they climb! :D

Oh and do babies need special attention? I had one in my first batch and it died and I don't know why...

Good call on the horseshoe crab description I know exatly wat that is! :)
And I've decided cleanliness lack or noise smell jumping and climbing majes them a terrific breeding choice

Yep! I was surprised they didn't smell almost AT ALL... They are also one of the cleanest insects if you can believe that. I heard they lick themselves more that cats...

But it is sorta creepy when I go under the cage in the cabinet (when I store them) to check on his fogger and such and they scuttle back into their holes...

The scurrying around noise is the worst part! Creeps me out sometimes! Just what if those damn tubs ever topple over!!!

Ikr!! Until I get a bigger ammount they're in my leo gecko's old 10 gallon tank. I'm almost afraid to sleep in my own room with the scuttling in the distance... I had to get a white noise machine!!
