Breeding Question!.

Hello everyone. I was wondering when it is okay/safe to breed your Chameleons? What age are they supposed to be and how big? I have been thanking about looking in to it but I'd rather hear it from someone on here.:D If anyone could let me know that would be great..:)

A female should be atleast a year old or so. Are you wanting to breed? Are you just starting out owning a chameleon? There was a thread on here the other day about someone wanting to breed. There is alot to consider and it can be VERY costly feeding all the babies.

She's a veiled. and I was just looking in to it. I'm not to sure if I want to. I also just came across a few things that said something about them laying eggs without breeding them and something about laying bin? what is that about?

Females can lay eggs even when not bred.

They will be infertile therefore you can throw them out when shes done.

You need a lay bucket, at least 12 inches deep, filled with damp soil/ play sand. for her to dig in and lay.

It's important to provide a suitable place for her in her cage for her to dig to show you when she is ready to lay eggs. Failure to do so can lead to egg binding. I use an opaque container of washed playsand that is at least 12" x 12" deep x 8".
