Discoids are ok in Florida...
I'm right w/ you on hating crickets. Roaches are quiet, don't smell, don't climb on glass or plastic bins, and are quite prolific. I have my discoids in my garage and even this winter when its been cooler, they're still popping out nymphs. I have a heating pad under my two bins right now. 50 cents retail is actually a pretty reasonable cost in my opinion. I probably only have 30-40 adults, and they produce more than I probably need for my two panthers. It will be a good investment for your addiction of the thing we all call "chameleons".
