Breeding Age

What is the typical breeding age for a panther chameleon and how long do they live for? I assume at some age the males lose interest and the females can get too old. Also what are the risks if you breed a female too early. Seems like a waste to not have the eggs fertilized if she is going to lay them anyways.

Females breed at 1 year old males between 10-12 months they can lice around 7 years with outstanding husbandry yes they will loose some interest in breeding but over breeding a female shortens her life dramatically

I would wait till she is a year old and of good size to breed her. Laying infertile clutches are not as hard on her body and development so it is possible that she will lay infertile clutches prior to being a year old. It isn't a waste to allow her to do this and allow her body to develop correctly.

A breeding female will have a reduced lifespan, most likely 2-3 years. Over breeding and early breeding will reduce that lifespan even more which is then definitely a waste.
