Brand New Ambilobe

I just got back from Repticon Orlando and picked up this little guy from kaleidoscope chameleons. His name is Darwin and he is already eating, basking, and roaming around just fine. His is about 3.5 months. At what size/age can I move him into a 260 gallon Reptarrium? Thanks. To the left is his sire (Lobo). This is my first chameleon. :)

He looks great but is he in a glass cage? Can you take some pictures of his cage setup? Also if you dont know already we can help you out with watering, supplements, feeding, and everything else. Just ask away. We are here to help people out:)

Set-ups

Hey, Yes, I have been researching for a month, this site is amazing! I do have him in a Exo-Terra glass cage with screen top that is 12" x 12" x 18" (WxDxH), I thought that was ok for when they are babies. I do plan to add on more piece of foliage. Picture below.

I have it with a Reptisun 5.0, basking temp at 82 and humidity around 75%. The dimensions on the large habitat are 30x30x71; so very big. The large enclosure is not done yet. The final pick just shows him with his bar.

Woah, you're probably gonna want to wait til he is at least 5-6 months old... Going from such a small cage to such a large one is a huge leap. Make sure to watch him carefully.

Also, a nice plant in his small cage would be a good idea. 75% all the time is quite high. Also, a 10.0 is needed for his large cage :)

Will take suggestions. I do have a florescent plant light for the large cage but will up to 10.0 when the bulb needs replacement.

Was going to get a medium screen cage for when its nice to take him outside. I will use that for the intermediary home for a month or two.

Thanks all!

No, the Reptisun 5.0 is being used on his small, current enclosure right now. I just meant for the large cage I have a florescent plant light to add since it will be filled with live plants and I will change the 5.0 to a 10.0 when it needs replacing. And of course I am adding a 100W basking light when he moves to the large enclosure too. So right now he only has one light but will have 3 when moved to large cage.

Going to local pet shop now to get more furnishings. And I am also starting to regret the glass cage. Hard to keep humidity down. I end up opening up the door to get it back down.

Update, he is doing great. He cage is now loaded with foliage and highways. He Loves crickets. Only eaten 1 waxworm. But so far he has eaten 3 crickets out of my hand and 1 out of my boyfriends. Thought it would be hopeless to try taming a chameleon but now he hardly moves when I open the cage and stick my hand in.

Fruit fly cultures come in tomorrow hope he likes them more than the worms. I am learning so much about habitats, nutrition and insects thanks mainly to this site!
