Brand names: stain/seal for wood, custom made cage?

I'm drawing up a design as a fuzzy idea for a custom made cage for a panther down the line (I'm talking 2-3 years, about, as long as my Jackson's is still with me).

Does anyone have any success stories as to which type of wood/stain/seal they have used in the past?

Any tips as well? I'm still surfing threads here so I'll post anything I find relevant.

Thanks much! :)

pigglett79 posted an awesome thread a while ago! this is one of my favorite customs i've ever seen! if you read through the first couple pages of the thread, materials are listed. also, im sure i might catch heat for this.. but, in my opinion.. there are probably ppl in apartments or rentals who free range their chams or other herps.. now, im just GUESSING, but i'd be willing to bet that whomever they are renting from weren't thinking about herp-friendly materials when they were building.. and in fact probably used the cheapest materials they could get away with in some cases. that being said.. these free ranged herps seem to do just fine. i think as long as u give it adequate time to "cure" so to speak.. it should probably be fine.. JUST AN OPINION, my dudes in a store bought cage lol. anyways.. link.. :p

How did I miss this thread? I'm over here searching, changing keywords, etc...somehow missed this glorious piece of forum.

Thank you for the link and the speedy reply! I'm just now blue-printing my idea and toying around with dimensions. This will help me quite a bit. Yeah, and I see what you're saying -- I have read of people using spraypaint or so, just letting it air out for weeks at a time, which I'm fine with doing...just hate the smell. Again thank you!! :)

anytime! it happens, sometimes when you're looking the hardest is when you cant find it. i've been helped out in the same way a few times already lol. best of luck, keep us posted!

Definitely intend to do a step-by-step...that is...if I can get it to work! It helps to have a crafty father and many that are willing to help out. I believe I can pull it off, I believe! :D
