Boosting gut load for crickets!!

Hi! Im sure there are loads of these threads... but its late and I have no energy to search..

Im picking my baby chameleon up tomorrow. But my crickets are also showing up tomorrow. So I need to feed those crickets a great gut load as fast as possible so that my cham is getting good food quickly.

I can only feed them regular things I can find in my local supermarket. And cheap.

What I have in mind is: Oat flakes, orange, carrots & a water dish.
Will this do for a healthy meal to my cham? :)

thanks!

Crickets do not drink from water dishes... they can drown in a drop of water. Instead they get it from wet veggies and fruit, like carrots, oranges, etc. You're on the right track. There's a member here, sandrachameleon, who has written many awesome blogs and articles about gutloading.

I would get some things such as butternut squash, carrots, kale, collard greens, and oranges (not too much though). And water cubes/water dish with a piece of sponge (so they don't drown) is good for water.

Get some toilet paper tubes or egg crates so the crickets have a place to hide.

Good idea! Also like above user said, check out sandrachameleon's blog for more ideas for wet & dry gutload.

Or just make a mix of fruits and veggies, blend a lot, freeze it in cubes somehow, and then use as needed.
