While I agree, I don't see this starting out as an attack. Saltydog made a suggestion of why not get another.

OP informed, that he had males and got rid of them, and is rebuilding his caging. That to me, and to salty says he doesn't have cages for these babies. Is that not what you took for that?

So Salty suggested, maybe he should do that, before breeding. Stuff happens and when there is eggs in the incubator that need a cage, they can't have excuses of my car broke down so I couldn't buy cages.

Then the OP replied in a very childish agressive manner, that is when the tables shifted.

That's all excluding the fact, the OP is asking to Borrow Animals, to make Babies that he already shown he doesn't have caging for. That's irresponsible behavior, that's the same type of behavior that has the dog/cat crisis in the state it's in. Then the way, he responded to Salty was uncalled for, and flat out rude. He set the tone of the thread no one else.
Wrong....... Again with the fake news. I never said I had a problem with cage space or building/ buying more cages. Eggs take over six months to hatch. I'm sure you know this. So not having a cage at the moment doesn't mean I won't have them by the time the babies hatch I have all the baby cages anyways. Dude you guys ASSUME WAY TOO MUCH. I didn't say any of that. This was not offering help, this was showing "how great you are" and how much better you think you are than other people. Thanks but no thanks I've had chameleons off and on for over 20 years. I don't claim to be an expert like yourself but I know how to raise many kinds reptiles. Mind your own business, plain and simple.

I am sorry you had this experience... Jacksjill and ChameleonMike gave some great feedback... Maybe try that out and see if it helps your boy. I have no breeding experience or knowledge so I avoid these threads.
Yes and I appreciate it. I've been trying all the suggested methods. I'm not giving up. Thanks

However it does.

It means exactly that, which is all Salty was saying. You don't know that you will have the cages in 6 months, you can not possibility gaurntee that. Life happens, and usually when you don't want it to. So what happens when you got busy? Or large a cost that you didn't expect comes up? There is too many variables to assume you know for a fact your going to have the thousands and time to setup baby cages and insect colonies.

I don't think anyone would loan you a cham you breed without at least seeing your breeding setup first. They for sure are not going to accept your promises and hopes and dreams as blind Faith that the babies they sired will be safe and cared for. That's life in a fantasy land.

Ok BUT everyone took it as the OP did not know anything about breeding or chameleons. ASSUMING is what caused everything to go downhill. He chose to rehome his males before the move. No one new the entire story and he did not need to tell it.

While some may not agree that him looking for a stud is a good idea why attack him for it? I have seen in the forums where people will hook up with another breeder to add new blood to their line... No one gets angry with that.

Last time I checked it took a minimum of 9 months for eggs to even hatch once laid... you don't think that is enough time to build cages and set up his breeding program again?

This is the perfect example of why people do not ask for help here. They read threads like this and feel that it is not a safe environment to do so.

Not to mention the children that we have in the forum. How is this behavior a good example for them?

This is not how WE as a community should be representing this forum. I will leave it there.

No one cared whether he had bred before or not. That was never in question.

What was in question was the fact he did not have the cages or the insects to feed baby Chams.

You can hatch panther eggs, in 5-6 months. Which he just said he plans to do. That's not the healthiest way, but you can.

He stated, he doesn't have his cages or his insects, and Salty said you should probably have that before breeding. And he is right, and No I am not going to bet the life of 30+ baby Chameleons on the fact this guy is going to build the cages.

Life happens, stuff comes up, and those cages might not get built. What salty said wasn't rude, at all. He was simplying giving advice.

The assumption that he has prior knowledge left when his behavior deviated into calling people socialists and screaming about fake news. That's not mature experienced adult behavior.

No one was attacking him, until he began to attack others. He most likely is just here to troll. The fact that he has been registered for 3 years and his first post is to borrow a chameleon, speaks miles to his intentions and character imo.

Besides that, were you not the one that just told someone that their 16x16x24 cage was too small? Because it wasn't for sure they could get a bigger one in time? Now are mad at as for doing the same, on a much much larger scale? We Re not talking a single cage here, we are talking thousands of dollars of caging lights and bugs to care for these babies.

Ya maybe he could raise them in a cage or 2, and what happens when 6, don't sell by the 4 month or the 5th or the 6th?

I get what your saying about unexpected things in life. I'm fortunate enough to have a good job and a savings account for emergency. With that said I don't spend money I can't afford. I always have money if I need it because I am a responsible person. Buying some cages is not an issue, Space is not an issue. I wanted to breed my big female and my male won't breed. I wanted to see if anyone lived near me that would want to hook up, and yes meet me and see my animals (all of which was too much info for the original post) so she could have fertile eggs to lay. With that said I should not have to explain all this to people who have no BUSINESS getting involved.

We are a bunch of busy bodies but you will find our hearts are in the right place. Caring about chameleons is what brings us all here.
Good luck in your search. I hope your male gets back around to breeding soon.

So funny, you are still here bumpin your gums. You are 100% right, we know nothing about you except what you show in your character. You never get a 2nd chance at a 1st impression. I here they love people from California in Idaho!

You didn't have to. You could have stated that right there. Or even shortened it.

To Saltys original post.

"I appreciate your concern, I have everything needed or will have, this isn't my first time breeding"

If you had done that, your mileage would have been much different. However you got rude, started screaming about fake news and telling people they had no life outside of their animals. You spit fire, you get burned.

Your a real gem. They like good ol fashioned gun toting Americans like me though. That's the difference.

This is absolutely ridiculous... And yall are grown adults and should know better... Everyone acting like toddlers instead of being open and communicating. Attacking each other does nothing. Attacking someone that is new to the forum puts them on guard. So of course they are going to give back what they get. We teach our children not to bully but then I see it here.

This makes me sad that very few people actually offered real help or info. Being open to info goes both ways people. Not only for the Newbies to the forum but for us regulars as well.

I was going to say can we get this thread shut down? Completely worthless bickering. Damn Salty you jumped on the assumption train. Also "tossed them before the move" was in reference to the cages. Grow up guys. He asked for a stud, welcome to the animal world. Hes rude, but hes being defensive since you litterally started with a fist ready.

Thank you for your service. I mean that. I will not disrespect. I also won't take shit from a bunch of people who don't know me.

Saltys assumptions were 100% correct. Salty assumed he didn't have the caging for babies, he doesn't. Salty assumed he doesn't have active insect colonies, he doesn't.

No one was shaking a fist, Salty made an assumption and said it would be better to have that setup before hand. He's right, as were his assumptions.

Once again, it's a matter of you not having seen the stuff that passes through these threads. We watch people all the time bite off more than they can chew and kill tons of baby and adult Chams in the process.

You will be just like us, in time.

If i jumped on here to get help, and someone just auto assumed i had no idea what I was doing id get defensive too. It takes a month to get a large colony if you throw money at it and cages are easy to set up too. Knock it off.
