boiling tap water

i have no clue on whats in my water systems, but i was curious if boiling the water then letting it cool would take any minerals out?
thanks

Minerals are solid, they don't evaporate.

Many chemicals will evaporate, but also many will stay. Most chlorine now is actually chloramine which does not boil out....though 99% of the population still believes it's still chlorine. It will even stay in the water for days and I've seen even weeks and it's as strong as it was coming out of the tap.

Metals also won't evaporate.

Boiling the water is to kill bacteria primarily, it doesn't remove anything else. Even the bacteria, the dead bodies will still be left behind.

Distilled and Reverse Osmosis are the only ways to get water pure.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to say minerals I meant to say bacteria that could be in the water. But could the chemicals in the water harm my chameleons because I'm buying gallon jugs 1-2 times a week!

I think it also really matters on where you live. For example, if you live in a place where you wouldn't drink your tap water, don't give it to your chameleon thinking he/she will. That's just my 2-cents.
