Blue Meller Chameleons?

I'll keep updating this thread periodically.

A shower snapshot clearly shows the color differences.

Commodore our female, Rush the unknown blue, and Sarge our male.

Rush is a really unique colour! And nice low stress colours on the other two, they all seem calm in the shower together. How are you housing the three of them, all three together? Free range? Cages? Good looking chams. Cheers!

Normally, they are house separately. There was a period of time Commodore was with Rush to try and instill a better feeding response which worked. Though we noticed a scratch on commodore's tail so separated them.

Rush wore different colors...but we couldn't tell if it was breeding colors or stress colors. They both lobe flapped as well. No head bobs from what I seen. Rush did hit Commodore with his/her tongue, and that's about the day we separated them. So either a confused male, or a female wanting her own space.

We got Sarge flown in from a member here on a bit of a sudden whim since its not that common to find a proven male, and since commodore is proven female, we were excited. He now lives in Commodores custom made screen cage (same dimensions as a 260).

Commodore was moved to a smaller cage after she got her scratch. Once she was ok and Sarge settled in, they were put together a few weeks ago. She's happy as anything, and our male Sarge vibrates and head bobs at her and shows his flashy colors. No lobe flapping. Usually she will be off on a branch in her happy green, and he will be down below madly trying to get her attention. Commodore will be getting her own cage again too, we will probably build another one, or make one bigger if the two seem like they can co habitat. Rush stresses much easier so will remain separated from both until we a have a better idea on gender. I dont believe he/she gained enough experience as a farm hatched baby in communicating properly with other chams.

Have you been able to get Rush sexed yet? I know it is difficult to sex Melleri, but if you find a local vet that has special interest in lizards, they might be able to ultrasound him/her and look for reproductive organs. I wish I was closer, I'd do it for free, just for my own interest sake! Hopefully (he) turns out to be Male for you! Great job, they look great! Any advice you can offer us on anything special you have done to keep them looking so bright and healthy?

Even if Rush is a male since you have a female can't you still breed them? With you having both a male and a female, I would think breeding that complete beauty would be a goal. And if you aren't going to breed Rush - well i have always wanted a Mellers.

Very nice colors, hope you get to breed him/her and pass those genes on.
seeing them makes me want one (I seem to say/think that after most post with pics on here)
