my veiled chameleon has recently shown some signs of an irritated eye ever since she shed. now im wondering if it was some saliva that accumulated on her dripper that fell into her eye. (she had a dried spit mark right above the eye in question.) it seems like shes having trouble seeing from it. she moves it around normally but maybe her vision is blurry because she doesnt react to things on that side of her vision but when the other eye sees it she reacts. i rinsed it out just now with saline solution as i read on this forum, and im hoping i got it in. she was closing her eyes most of the time i had her restrained but i got the eye a little wet since i saw a teardrop on her open eye. now theres a patch of red underneath her iris. do you think this could be just a broken blood vessel that happened from the saline or is something worse going on? ive already scheduled a vet appt this friday. she is moving her eye around with the occasional "blink flushing". and she managed to catch some food after a few misses. i just dont want my baby going blind in that eye! :(

The saline shouldn't be causing any trouble. Chances are she got something in her eye, started rubbing it and maybe damaged some capillaries in her eye that way. Increased vascularization in the eye is also a result of some type of injury.

thanks for responding. thats good to know. her eye isnt red anymore but she still cant see well with it. theres a bit of droopage in the eyelid but her eye isnt puffy at all and she hasnt been flushing it as much since i did the saline.

a bit of an update on her: i took her to the vet and he gave her some Gentamicin eye drops for her eye. thankfully she hasnt been giving me a hard time administering it to her! do you think i should continue flushing her eye with the saline before i give her the drops or would that be over kill? dont want her eye to get red again.
