Black shinny mark on nose??

Hi,i haven't posted anything in a while and this is the first concern-health wise- that i have had with Trixxi in the 7 months that i've had her,first thing this morning after turning on her lights i noticed a shinny black mark on her nose,it is very small,about a centimetre in length and VERY shinny looking,sorry about the crappy pic's!!any help would be great.A new reptile vet has opened in my area and i had planned to bring her for a general check-up any way,thanks

No chance of that,i cup feed her and leave nothing roam in her cage

The pictures are very hard to see.
I was thinking nose rubbing on the screen but that would be near the front of the mouth. Looks like it is closer to the nostril though it is hard to see.

Yeah,i know!!i can't get a decent photo of it as my camera will not focus on it probably!Sorry!here are a few more rubbish pic's....it is about a centimeter above her nostril and i have never seen her rubbing at it,only time i have seen her rubbing is when she is shedding,Vet booked for tomorrow morning,thanks for the reply,i can't state how shinny it looks

Ronnie, is it just that one place? I know when Lily used to get guts from her food squirt on her it would go black and shiny - or it could be the brown stuff that locusts spit out. Have you tried bathing it with warm water at all? If it's dried guts it should wash off! Other than that has she been in a cage with bars at all? I ask this because when Amy tries to get out of her sun-bathing cage she rubs her snout on the bars and it goes black where she rubs.

Hi Tiff,yep,it's just in one place,i have gave her a light spray and she has let me touch it,i have looked up burns pictures and i am (kinda) sure it's not a burn,vets tomorrow anyhow!and no she hasn't been in anything with bars on it,it is so shinny it's unreal,dam camara won't pick it up!i will give her another warm spray down and see if that helps,thanks Tiff

Could you try and wipe it gently with a damp cotton wool pad?

Tiff........it worked!!!thank you,i gave her a good soaking and then wet the end of an ear bud and gave it a little wipe and hay presto!!it came away!!!oh wow,how mad is that!!Thank God for this web site....and Tiff(haha)!i was sure that something was wrong,my mind was running wild,i think you can imagine!I'm not sure if i should/need to take her to the vets tomorrow if there is no need,i have never taken her before and don't know how she will react,stress wise?but at the same time i would like to see how the vet thinks shes doing and as i never was told her right age i would be interested to see if he could tell me anymore info about her...so is it worth the visit or not???thanks again Tiff

That's ok Ronnie! Cant have Trixxie being poorly! I remembered that when I first got Lily she had the same thing on her jaw and I was told that it would wash off or come off with the next shed. I wasn't brave enough to wash Lily's face back then and it came off with a shed so all was well.

Glad you found a solution and she didn't have to go to the vets after all! When it's your cham you tend to panic, whereas others can stand back and take things in and try and help!

I haven't taken mine to the vets unless they need to. Fecals can be taken on their own unless you have other concerns. I think the fecal is the most important thing and they don't need to nbe taken to the vets for that. It's up to you wehter you take her or not. Tommy was fine in the travel cage yesterday and he stayed in it for over an hour as we arrived home right at teatime! I covered the box that the cage was in with an old towel and he went to sleep, bless him! I ended up trying to clean a cage and set him up and cook tea all at the same time while hubby stood there cooing at Tommy!

Oh tell me about it!panic wasn't the word!i couldn't believe it when it started to come off,i felt kinda stupid then!but there you go!better to be safe than sorryi think i will cancel the vet tomorrow but ask them about doing a fecal,thanks again Tiff,how come you always seem to rescue me!!

One thing to consider with a new vet...introduce her to him while she's healthy and establish a relationship and some baseline health information. This way if you do need vet help later they will have some health data to run comparisons to (weight, parasite profile if any, bone density, general photos of condition, kidney function, etc.). Most of us don't think about doing this, but in a crisis it could be very useful even if they would be willing to shift their appointments around to get a "known client" squeezed in on short notice.
