is black feces a sign for anything bad? my cham's urates are white and runny since i feed her silkies but ive never noticed her food turning her poops black before. she has had history with eating sand but i havent noticed any sand eating for at least a week. im worried that its a sign of blood in her stool (because i think thats the case with humans). i can provide a picture if needed, but just incase its normal, i dont want to gross anyone out :p

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled chameleon, female, 8-9 months, had her since May 25, 2009
Handling – probably twice a week for no longer than 10 minutes each handling
Feeding – mostly silkworms and crickets with occasional waxworm, mealworm, superworm, phoenixworms, rarely fruits. Crickets are gutloaded with a puréed dark greens medly, collard greens, carrots, apple and orange, waxworms with bran and honey, mealworms and super worms with carrot/apple and bran, silkies with mulberry food. on dusting days she usually gets 5-6 half inch crickets, on non dusting days she gets either two medium size silkworms or a super and other worms. I feed her in the afternoon everyday and maybe a few small treats throughout the day. i also feed her waxworm moths and silkworm moths as treats when available.
Supplements – Rep-cal calcium without D3 every other feeding, Rep-cal calcium w/ D3 twice a month, Reptivite vitamins once a month
Watering – hand pump mister 3 times a day on the plants for about 5 minutes each, dripper used in between mistings. I see her drinking occasionally or standing by the dripper, shes very shy
Fecal Description – neg for parasites, usually brown to tan in color, sometimes with sand in it, urates are white. currently black and glossy but not runny or slimy, urates white and runny from silkworms
History- chronic sand eater, recent possible physical trauma from this post: https://www.chameleonforums.com/quite-scare-today-33403/
Current Problem - concern about black feces

Eek! The post link is concerning, first thoughts were internal injury/bleeding from the jump/fall. I hope not.
In this case a vet visit really coulnt hurt if you havent since the fall.
Take a poo sample with you.
In any case, get rid of the sand, use something else for laying.

ill have to take her to the vet. i just took her out to see her walk on flat ground and she is limping pretty badly on the same arm. she can move it and hold a grip but it looks as if she cant place any weight on it. ill have to get xrays too. the crazy thing is, other than the limping and black poop shes showing no physical ailments that shes in pain. shes eating and drinking normally and has normal coloring and sleeping patterns. she doesnt even have any problems moving around in her cage at all either. i really hope this isnt anything too severe. :(

update

i took her to the vet today. he didnt seem that an xray was necessary and her limping could be from a sprain and was sore since shes not putting much weight on it. he gave me some metacam to give her for a few days and i'll look out for any improvement. thankfully thalamus gave me a fresh poop for a fecal to test for blood in the stool and ill know the results by tomorrow.

even if shes in pain from her arm, little thalamus is quite a tough chameleon! shes still very interested in food and water, walks in her cage with ease (i only notice her limping when shes crawling on flat surfaces) punctured a bunch of holes in my hands and arms today at the vets from her nails, and even shed this weekend!

Her heat lamp seems kinda low..... maybe she needs more heat to digest her food better. I am kinda having an issue with my large Melleri and his poop.... Working on warming him up more with better basking lights.

since we have the heat on in the house, her basking spot is getting to about 85 now at the highest. i wanna keep it in the low 80's though as many people here have suggested so she wont produce eggs.

as a bit of an update, i got the results from her fecal back and she doesnt have blood in her stool. instead its parasites! i had her fecal done a month ago and she was clean as a whistle, but my vet says that she could have had them while they were in their dormant phase (or something along those lines). so my vet is giving me a new medication tomorrow to give thalamus as well as continuing the metacam for her limping arm. ill probably end up getting another fecal done in a month to see if shes clean!
