Black patch on panther cham?

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend whose worried about his cham.

It has developed a black area on its side that has slowly got bigger and has had trouble shedding this area.

Viv is an XL repribreeze with humidity at 60%, feeds well and sheds well apart from that area. Misting 3 x daily and dripper system, cham has been noted to be "obsessed" with drinking. Supplemented with calcium on every feeder then nutrabol once weekly, eats and handles fine.

He took him to a vet and they gave him f10 to apply to the area, (they dont know what it is) but now its starting to protrude out. Anyone else ever seem anything like this before?

Apologies if ive left out major details!

That looks awful. Did the vet biopsy or culture the wound? I'm curious if they were able to tell exactly what is causing the spot... maybe a burn that now has a secondary infection? If the vet didn't know what it was, it might be time to get a second opinion. I would worry that a topical ointment might not be enough to stop a serious infection.

Hopefully, one of the vets on the forum will jump in. You might send a PM to "Dr O" or "ferretinmyshoes" and see if they have any thoughts.

how about heat sources? strength/wattage/distance.

from the photo it looks pretty classic for a bad burn, if not, either bacterial/fungal/tumor. but it looks like a terrible 3rd degree burn on a really handsome boy; that’s too bad. :(

i would unfortunately imagine that the blackened area at least will eventually slough. he can potentially make it through this, but will definitely need competent vet help along the way.
