Awww, your little guy is adorable!

Its normal that they sometimes try to chomp on leaves. Just make sure they're not weak enough that he can rip them off. He's a baby, so unless its a really weak fake plant, I doubt he'll be able to.

When you can, you should try and get a real pothos and ficus for him. It helps keep humidity, and they like to chomp on them sometimes. Make sure you water down the plants first, and replace the soil with organic soil.

you really don't need to bake the branches. In my opinion that is overkill! If they come from your yard and you have not sprayed them down with pesticides then I would not worry. If you are not sure, then you can just wash with soapy water and rinse them well and then set them out to dry.

first of all, imo, live plants are part of sound cham husbandry.

vieleds occasionally like to munch on vegetative matter, you might review the vegetative content of your gutload (assuming you do gutload), it might also be a good idea to hang a little bit of kale, so it has something to satisfy its urge other than plastic plants. jmo

In my limited experience veiled chameleons eat plant matter when they are thirsty or hungry, and possibly once they have already acquired a taste for it. How are his urates?

Yeah my cham blaze chomps on his ficus too been threw 2 plants already with him i thought it was because he was thirst but i mist his cage 3 times a day he just loves his greens ime if you use zoomed plastic plants you dont have to worry about them breaking off. Due to their sturdiness. If you can do a plant right now try hanging some lettuce in the cage or try feeding him some fruit they love it. He may like i said before love his greens
