Bioactive question

I've been advised by my breeder to put river rock over my substrate in my bioactive setup to prevent my cham (when he arrives) from ingesting the substrate. Will this negatively affect my bioactivity in the substrate?

I do use stones over the top of soil on my plants but it's probably overkill or an abundance of caution. I don't think it's 100% required but if it will give you peace of mind, go for it! For a fully bioactive setup leaf litter is great. Just do your research and make sure you can keep up with requirements for a bioactive enclosure. I do not recommend it for the average beginner, but it can be done well with the right investments of time and money.
