Biggest Snake For A 55?

I have never had a snake but I LOVE them. I'm the guy you find by the sidewalk searching a bush because a snake went in it and I want to hold it lol. So I got a free 55 gallon today (payed $10 for him to deliver it to me) and I threw some old reptile stuff like bedding, moss, and plants in there and it actually looks pretty good. I just need the lid and I can make one because I have screen rolled up. I want to know what the BIGGEST snake I can put in there is. Obviously not a red tail (my favorite snake) but I want it to be bigger than a ball. Thank you!

Here she is! Pythos, aloe, honey suckle, shamrocks, frog moss, some other moss, sand, soil, decor/basking spots

Also please suggest something that I can get for about $100 or under. I dont have $10,000 to pay for the perfect sized snake

Corn, king, milk, garter, rosy boa, children's Python, a red tailed boa would work for a few years, until it got about 8 ft.... I don't trust snakes, may I suggest a lizard instead?

I might have to stick to a lizard because SOMEONE in the house is snake-phobic. Any lizard suggestions. I have owned CWD before, can I keep one in a tank 1.5' tall? I know they like to climb so I might have to put a 20g upside down on top of the 55 for more climbing space. Honestly I am thinking of selling my 40g reef. Kinda scary to think of that tank gone since I have had it for like 5 years. If not I might just get a super citrus BD.
