I'm thinking of getting a new enclosure for my cham. just wondering what you all think is the best to get him considering i need to maintain temperature whilst get adequate ventilation. im based in the uk so its quite cold, i think a mesh enclosure wouldnt maintain the right temperature? im not on a budget. Thanks all

Mesh is fine to use in the UK, depending on the size of cage, the wattage of lights you use..........I can't recommend a particular model for you, because I converted my furniture to make mine........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IJWApNQZ3g (you'll want more foliage than is shown in the vid, I'd just set it up).
The only thing to be concerned about is nighttime temps in winter (I don't let it get below 60F room temp to be on the safe side, healthy adult veileds can take quite a drop......)

yeah, the drop in temp during the winter would worry me. my house get quite cold at night and i cant really keep the heating on all night.
he sits with his mouth open from time to time. hes doing it now. i think this may be because he has a horizontal viv and not a vertical one, so hes unable to have such a change in temperature throughout the enclosure. maybe hes too hot? not getting enough ventilation? what you think?

You can get ceramic heaters for nighttime that don't give off light. Gaping is usually a sign of over heating, and if there's not much gradient or airflow that won't help. Is it an all glass horizontal viv you have now? If so, you do want to get a new one set up soon.........fish tanks don't work well.......

no its a horizontal wooden viv with glass sliding doors with a uv fluorescent tube, heat lamp and heat mat. ive now switched off the heat mat to reduce the temperature. i think he just flogged me a basic reptile set up for something like a dragon. ive just got back from the reptile store though n ill be collecting a vertical viv friday. also wooden with glass sliding doors and double the amount of vents for air flow. ill then get rid of the substrates and add more vines and leaves. look at sticking in a few live plants and also some form of watering system so that the water is constantly there when he wants it
