Hi I’m going through make a laying bin for my kiwi the female panther chameleon and I need to find a good substrate can anyone tell me what a good substrate is?

I mix 1/2 washed play sand and half potting mix. Works pretty good, just make sure it’s damp enough to hold when your chameleon digs a hole, or the dirt could collapse and suffocate your Cham while she’s digging.

If youre going to go half and half play sand and potting soil You’ll need a potting mix that is organic with no fertilizers and no perlite in it. Basically nothing but dirt.

It’s very hard to find soil without perlite and other additions. Organic garden soil is just plain soil and mixed with the sand, should be fine.
